Outlook converting word file to winmail.doc

Hello, When sending a regular (rich text) e-mail from
Outlook 2000 that includes a MS Word document, the
recipient receives a winmail.dat file (instead of the MS
Word doc).

Sounds like a configuration issue that's probably been
addressed before...Does anyone know what setting (or patch)
I change to correct?
