outlook data file password

I had to reinstall microsoft office due to a crash. i have the data
file backed up but when i try to open it it askes for a password. I
never used one. Where did this come from and what can i do to open it?
When i reinstalled i had to get a new activation code. does this affect
the password? Thanks Dean

The activation code has nothing to do with the problem, the crash might
