Outlook does not recognize user name and password

Outlook 2003 suddenly stopped working. I received an error message
0X800CCC92 which said that the email server rejected my log-in and asked me
to verify my user name and password. I went to tools and email accounts and
changed my settings, but when testing those settings received two task errors
that said that the incoming server did not recognize my user name or
password and that the test email message had the same proble.

I recommend changing it back to what it was originally and trying again.
Quite often you'll see this error (not sure about the specific number, but
the over-and-over request to re-enter identity) when the mail server is
simply out of service. When it comes back up, you should be able to log in
using your original settings, IF the problem was just that the email server
(or internet connection) was out of service.

Verify your settings with your ISP as they may have changed how they want
folks to connect to their servers (e.g., require authentication or SSL
connections.)
