Outlook embedded

My outlook is embedding all attachments that I receive for some reason. When
I view the message with a preview pane, I see the attachment thumbnail, but
when I open the message up, the thumbnail is displayed as {EMBED
Outlook.FileAttach}. Does anyone know how to change this so I see a thumbnail?

Are these messages received in Rich Text format? Also what version of
Outlook are you using?

Some are Rich text, but not all. I'm using Outlook 2003.
