Outlook error on sending HTML

Just occassionally, when I hit the send button after writing an e-mail, I get
a
Microsoft Word "unspecified error". I use Word as my e-mail editor and the
OS is XPsp2 and it's Office XP. If I change the format from HTML to plain
text the message gets sent but it's in ?????'s and chinese! Any thoughts
anyone?
