outlook.exe keeps running after outlook is closed (outlook 2007)

Hi,

We have the following problem on three boxes with outlook 2007
2 boxes are windows xp and one windows vista.

After we close outlook we cannot open outlook because the outlook.exe keeps
running in the background.

After we kill the process with the taskmanager it is possible to open
outlook again.

there are no addin's for outlook installed...

No add-ins? No fax or PDA software either? Does your virus scanner integrate
with Outlook?
Were these updates or clean installs? Meaning; has there even been a
previous version of Outlook installed on those machines?

I also am experiencing the same problem. New install of OL2007 on Vista.

ALL Add-ins are disabled.
Anti-virus is disabled.

I am now sans-idea. I have no further ideas, than to suspect there is a
problem with outlook.
