Outlook.exe won't shut down

Stephanie P.

We are running Office 2000. When we have closed all Office applications,
outlook.exe is still listed in the Task Manager as an open process. Outlook
does not appear as open under Applications. Does anyone know why it is still
running? Many thanks.

There are numerous 3rd party applications that can keep Outlook resident.
Some of the major ones I am aware of is...

1) PDA software (ActiveSync, Palm, .etc that syncs with Outlook data)
2) WinFax
3) 3rd party addins (Generally these tend to be poorly written COM Addins)
4) Word 2000 (Word is email editor. Word is open when Outlook closes)
