Outlook Express

My Outlook Express suddenly stopped sending/receiving email... repairing, reinstalling and ensuring all settings are correct has not resolved the problem... I can access the same email accounts from another pc on the LAN without any issues... it appears that it is not communicating with IE and just hangs although it says it is connected... has anyone else experienced and resolved this problem?
