I am having problems with my operating system and am
afraid I am going to lose my emails. I want to copy them
to another machine, but I don't know where to find them.
What file extensions should I be looking for? Where are
they typically stored? Thanks.

Look for pst-file. Make sure you include hidden and system files/folder when
you do a search for it.
