Outlook Inbox inaccessable

Help!!
I am running Outlook 2000 on XP Home. I turned on the
junk setting under organise and now my Inbox is
inaccessable. I can view sub-folders inc sent deleted etc
and my mail downloads OK, but I can't open the inbox.
I've tried the SCANPST.exe but it reports that I need to
run SCANDISK.
I'm reluctant to start a re-install of XP just to run
SCANDISK, so hope someone can advise me a better way.
The other alternative is to install Outlook 2003 over the
top and hope that this fixes, but that too I'm reluctant
to do.
Please tell me there's an easy way to get this sorted:)

Are you using the Folder List or the Outlook Bar to try to open the Inbox?

Neither work. I get a message "Unable to display the
folder. Errors have been detected in the file
C:\Documents and Settings......\outlook.pst. Quit all
mail enabled applications and then use the inbox repair
tool."

When I run the inbox repair tool it goes through to phase
7 or 8 and then says I need to run SCANDISK.

Would re-installing Outlook sort this out?

No, it wouldn't. You might want to check
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm and see if any of the other
suggestions listed there are helpful. The last paragraph under "Usage"
might help you since you're on WinXP.
