Outlook is automatically deleting email

A woman in my company just brought this problem to my attention. She
is not a terribly experienced used and so just uses her inbox to
basically store all her email. Nothing is ever really markes as read,
as far as I can tell. Just yesterday, Outlook started to automatically
delete whatever email she opened. With no preview pane, we would open
the email into its own window and the message would disappear. With
the preview pane, it would disappear as soon as it was delayed. There
are no rules operating and there are no macros defined. The messages
that disappear do not go intot he deleted items folder and I cannot
find them by searching for them in Outlook. She is using Outlook 2000
in Windows 2000.

Has anyone heard anything like this before? Any help would be
appreciated! Thanks!

They're probably just hidden. Check View | Current View -- is it set to
"Unread messages"? If so, that explains the problem. Change the view back
to Messages and her hidden messages should reappear.

Also, make sure she's not sorting her Inbox on the Icon column, which can
also appear to hide messages.
