I'm already an MSN Premium account user and this morning, reading a bit
about one of the special offers--discounted Outlook Live--I decided to give
it a try and, after having my credit card billed of course, began the
download/installation procedure. The second or third page gave me the
option of "typical" or "custom" installation with typical being selected by
default. I noticed the "install now" box wasn't highlighted or bolded--I
mean it wasn't possible to click it and have anything happen--so I thought,
perhaps I should select "custom" and see what options were there. When I
did so, a drop down list appeared which showed that I already had all of the
items installed on my system. closing that window, the "install now" item
was still not "clickable" so I tried selecting "typical" again thinking the
page might refresh and then have "install now" work. No change. There was
no way to leave the page other than just closing it. There seemed to be no
change to the way MSN's mail along with Hotmail and my own Outlook (from
Office 2003) worked. On seeing the e-mail from Microsoft arrive confirming
my purchase, I wondered exactly what had been installed on my system so I
opened the control panel and "add/remove" only to find that there is nothing
regarding Outlook Live installed on my sytem and, in fact, nothing has been
installed today. Attempts to contact Microsoft online has proved
fruitless--perhaps because of the holiday--so I'm wondering, as I don't see
an Outlook Live newsgroup, this might be where the answer could/should be
found.
Any thoughts, anyone? Basically, I'm thinking whatever Outlook Live does
can already be done if one owns Outlook and has MSN Premium. If not, does
anyone have any thoughts on how one gets the download/installation process
to finish or do I have to wait for the CD which, according to Microsoft,
will arrive in ten days or so?
Thanks
