Outlook (Office) attachments opening slowly

I have a user who is using Office 2002 and is seeing some odd performance
issues.
When using Outlook and opening a spreadsheet (.xls) or Word (.doc) (the
worst performers) attachment the performance to open these documents is
truly slow. I have seen a word doc take up to 2 minutes to open. Outlook
is running with an Exchange server and other users are not experiencing this
issue.

I repaired office using the setup tool and this does not seem to have
improved the situation. Logged into the same PC as myself, I am not able to
reproduce that poor performance. I'm leaning towards a user issue, and my
next step is to remove and re-install office.

Any suggestions or similar experiences?
