Outlook Personal File Limit

I am using Outlook 2000 and recently ran into a situation
where my pesonal folders loced up and I can't access
them. I checked and the file size has reached 2 gigs and
I have been told that this is a limit for Outlook and
when you reach that limit, Outlook will lock up. Any
advice on how to deal with this to get files open again?
I have been told there is a way yo reduce the size of the
file with some data loos but you can then open the file
again and access the files.

Any help?

A good practise is to clear unnecessary attachments from the Send Items
folder or even the Inbox. Also when you have deleted a lot of messages from
your pst-file run Conpact Now which is under the properties of the Outlook
Today folder and hit Advanced...

Creating a new pst-file for every year is also done by a lot of people.
