Outlook problems

Hi. I have Outlook 2000 and all has been fine up to this
past weekend. Everytime I hit the button to launch
Outlook, it won't start. I soon as I hit the button, you
can see that it is just about to open a window but then
that quickly disappears and the outlook start up screen
just sits there. Ctrl Alt Delete tell me that it is not
responding and I usually have to "end task" on it. I used
to be able to end task and then it would be able to start
up again. If I wait long enough, the actual program will
come up but then it freezes again. Any suggestions?

Do you have all of the latest updates on your computer (especially for Outlook 2K?). If so, it sounds to me like you need to reinstall Outlook. I would import your messages/settings into Outlook Express and then reinstall Outlook

You may have a corrupted outcmd.dat file. This is the file that stores your
toolbar customizations, and when it becomes corrupted, Outlook can't use it
at startup to build your toolbars, thus causing the hangups. Try renaming
or deleting your outcmd.dat file while Outlook is closed. Renaming it might
be the best idea if you have a lot of customizations that you'd prefer not
to lose; that way if renaming the file doesn't solve your problem, you may
be able to restore it later when you do get Outlook working properly again.

Note: If you're using Windows 2000 or XP, you'll need to search in hidden
and system folders to find the outcmd.dat file.
