Outlook reply email is not default email

As of last week, if I create a new email it uses my default email but if I
reply to a incoming email (which is the same as my default email) it uses my
other email on the reply, Not the default.

I cant figure out how to change it, the one I want says default in the
settings, but when replying to a incoming it uses the other.

Have you set up (perhaps inadvertently) the other email in the "Reply Email"
field in Account settings?

I have the same problem as Sharon.
I have clicked on 'Tools' 'Account Settings' but do not appear to have a
'Reply e-mail' option.

It's in the General tab under More Settings...

Outlook will always use your default account (if you do not specify an
account) when you send a new message. Outlook will always use the account
that received the original message when you reply or forward.

I checked both account properties, there is nothing in the reply file in
either of them.

And the reply does not use the email it came to. Example.

I have email A (Default) and B.

Incoming email is to email A (It shows me that in the TO field)

I click Reply and in the FROM field it is automatically selecting Email B.
Not the one it came to which is the default.

Is that because, the Email B is the newest added one so its first on the
list, If so, how do you change the order so the default email is first.

This only started happening like week or so ago.

Thanks.

I have no idea what you're saying here. What's a "reply file"?

You're confusing things. The receiving account isn't necessarily connected
with the recipient address 9the address the message was sent to). Depending
on the nature of the accounts. account B might receive a message sent to
address A. "Address" is not equal to "account".
Is that because, the Email B is the newest added one so its first on the
list, If so, how do you change the order so the default email is first.

Try what I suggested and add the "E-mail Account" field to the header
columns. Look at which account actually received the message.

Ah! OK - I've found it . Thanks Gordon.
However, the reply email is the correct one in the default settings and I
changed the reply email in the secondary account but that didn't work
either. I do notice that the two addresses have different Incoming &
outgoing server details, even though they are on the same domain. (These
settings were loaded by the web host). Any more advice would be much
appreciated.
Thanks, Stuart

Two points - although you say that on each account the incoming and outgoing
servers are the same, that shouldn't make any difference to the actual email
accounts used. Secondly you say that they are on the same domain - does that
mean that the accounts are aliases rather than truly separate email address?
Do you have the same password and Username on each account?

Stuart

Yes, they are aliases. I have one Username and password with the web host
which allows me to access either account and manage those accounts.

Sorry I haven't got back to you - been busy!
I suspect that the address you have set as "Default" in Outlook is NOT the
Master address for your account. What happens with aliased addresses (AFAIK)
is that the Master address (the one you set up first) assumes the role of
default, whatever else you do in your email client...I don't think there's
anything you can do about that. It's something you have to live with using
aliased addresses.
