Outlook startup problem

Everytime i open oulook the following error msg appears.

Outlook could not open the file containing the folders
used to send and receive email messages,create
appointments and open the address book.plese sellect from
the optionslisted below:

1.Create new personal folders file
2.open an existing personal folders file.

if option 2 is chosen the application closes itself.

What cani do to remidy this problem as i donot wish to
choose option1.
