Outlook stops responding

I'm using Outlook 2002 with Windows 98. Often it stops responding and locks up as I'm trying to open an email message. I have to Ctrl/Alt/Del to close it. I can reopen Outlook again and proceed, but it will lock up again at any moment. Can someone help
