Outlook V.S. Outlook Express

Steve

I prefer using Outlook Express that I have on my
desktop. Specifically I prefer the incoming list on the
top half of the screen with the actual message shown in
the lower half of the screen.

My laptop came preloaded with Outlook. Question is how
can I download Express from MS and use it instead of
Outlook? How do I get rid of Outlook and begin using
Express.

Outlook Express is bundled with Internet Explorer.
Outlook does the same thing you described as outlook express and more it is
the full version and outlook express is a mini version. The only thing that
outlook cannot do is newsgroups.

Actually, Outlook and Outlook Express are two completely different programs
despite the unfortunately similar names. They are not "mini" or "full"
versions of each other.

As the other poster stated, you should already have Outlook Express
installed on your system. Go to Control Panel | Internet Options, click the
Programs tab, and make Outlook Express your default e-mail program. If you
haven't set up any mail accounts in Outlook, there should be no conflict
(and even if you did have mail accounts there, if you never open Outlook, it
won't download mail).

One thing I don't understand about your question, though. Outlook has a
Preview Pane function (renamed the Reading Pane in Outlook 2003) just like
Outlook Express does. So that shouldn't be the reason you don't want to use
Outlook ;-)
