Outlook - Viewing emails in a Folder

As I look at the list of messages I've saved, I see the
date the message is received. But when I doubleclick the
message to read it, the current date and time appears.
Why? and can it be changed?

Thanks to anyone who reads this. This is so frustrating
not being ablt to contact MS for support on their product!
