I recently had to reinstall Microsoft Office 97. Since then, I have not been
able to designate Outlook Express as my default mail handler. I have set is
using the "tools" Options many times but it keeps going back as " this is Not
you default mail handler." In IE in the "program options" it does not even
recognize Outlook Express as an option to choose, only Outlook. I do not
wish to use Outlook at all. Previous to reinstalling Office, I had no
problem with either program.
I even tried uninstalling Office, but when trying to send email from IE, it
would still bring up the Microsoft Outlook profile screen. How do I disable
Outlook as my default mail handler, it is not even set up with a profile yet?
I also tried to reinstall Internet Explorer 6.0 but I get a message that the
version I am running is higher than the one I am trying to install and it
will not reinstall.
