outlook will not start

I have MS Outlook 2002 and when I start the program, it gives the error
message: The data file "Personal Folders" was not closed properly. This file
is being checked for problems.
After 3-5 minutes, the check is completed, the splash screen for Outlook
appears, the whole program appears to load (i.e., I can see the folders and
old emails), and then, inexplicably, the program seemingly closes -- the
Outlook screen disappears and under task manager, no outlook program or
related process is listed. I've tried starting in safe mode (same result)
and I just ran Scanpst.exe which repaired the Outlook.pst file (same result).

You may have to run scanpst.exe many times to repair multiple errors. What
size is your PST file?
