In a network environment, using Microsoft Exchange, if an
user leaves his Outlook program open overnight, will it
affect the server if a virus it's entering that user's e-
mail. Also, if the user leaves the internet open during
the night, can a virus/worm get into the server????

1) I hope you scan for virusses at several levels like on your proxy and on
your Exchange server so you wouldn't have to depend on a client. If this is
the case you've got nothing to fear. Also, most mails need to be selected
before they can execute anything and with today's blocking of possible
unsafe attachments in Outlook it's even harder.

2) same story as one; scan on several levels and block ports on the
firewall. Never depend on one system!

Just a thought; why don't you set logon hours for your users so they will be
disconnected from any server after that time? You can also enforce a policy
that automatically force a logoff for the user when his logon time expires.
It's very effective!
