Outputting Gantt Charts from Project 98

Hello all - I work with Project 98, and I've been having a
real whale of a time trying to get my Gantt chart outputted
the way that I want it. I want to paste a Gantt chart for a three-month
span into a Visio 2002 file. I have tried Copy Picture (for
screen, print, and to file), outputting to PDF and then
copying/pasting the relevant section into Visio as an
Enhanced Metafile, and more.

The main problems I have been having:
- the Task Name column gets cut off when using Copy as Picture
- the image resolution of GIF output looks poor when printed
- the month names in the timescale get cut off
- the size of picture data when pasted into Visio boosts the file size
up to 20MB (previously under 1 MB)

Does anybody know whether later versions of Project have better
and more robust image output and printing functions?

Thanks,

Jeff Chapman

Yes. Project 2003 has much better imaging and printing. Still not
world-class, but much better than '98.

Jeff,

I used to do the following in this case (although I am using MS Project
2003, but it shouldn't differ when PDF):
1. I PDF file with Acrobat.
2. I use Solid Converter PDF to convert to MS Word.

It gives you the clarity of Word when printing a text lines, yet preserving
the bars and formatting (especially when grouped, with color lines).

Probably it is not the best solution, but I guess converting Word files into
other MS programs is heaps easier then PDF files.
