I would leave the WAV files wherever they are now. Package for CD should
gather them up, resolve the links, and place them in the folder with your
presentation if necessary.
So what you'll want to do is open the PPT file you've completed. The do the
Package for CD in this manner:
1. File/Package for CD
2. Click on Options button in the Package for CD dialog
3. Make sure to select PPT Viewer and Linked Files
4. Click OK
5. Click Copy to Folder
6. Name the folder something you'll recognize -- Presentation May 15 -- and
click the Browse button to browse to your desktop (or to my documents or
wherever you want the folder to be saved) and click the Select button. Then
click OK.
7. The OK in step 6 actually packages the file for you. So now that you're
back in the Package for CD dialog, you can just click Close.
Now go look at the folder Presentation May 15 on your desktop. Double-click
to open it.
You should see your presentation file (presentation.PPT) and maybe your
music files. You'll also see about 10 other files --
AUTORUN.INF
gdiplus.dll
intldate.dll
play.bat
playlist.txt
pptview.exe
ppvwintl.dll
pvreadme.htm
saext.dll
unicows.dll
Select all those files (your PPT file, any other files, and the 10 listed
here) to burn to your CD. Don't burn the folder itself -- just burn all the
files in the folder so that they're loose on the CD.
http://www.echosvoice.com/gotchas.htm#SoundAdvice explains the whole
embedding WAV files in a presentation thing. If your WAVs are embedded, you
won't see them in the list of files after you do the Package for CD. If the
WAVs aren't embedded in your presentation, you will see them in the list of
files after you do the Package for CD. If you see them, then make sure to
burn them to the CD along with the rest of the files.

I have a completed slide show that includes three pieces of music (wav
files). I would like to package for CD so that others can view the show
without having to have ppt on their computer. I've never used this feature
and was unaware that it existed until I read through some of the postings on
this forum. Could someone tell me what steps I need to take to do this
successfully? I am not sure if I have to include the wav files in the folder
or not. I'm also confused about folder versus contents of the folder.
Thanks in advance.
