Page Numbering in Headers

I have a very strange problem. I have a document that I have numbered 1 to 17 in the headers - it has been done through Header toolbar under add page numbers. Everything looks fine on the screen and in print preview, but when I print it every page says 1 of 1, 2 of 2, 3 of 3, instead of 1 of 17, 2 of 17. What could possibly be causing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
