Page numbering

Up until the last few days, whenever I would insert a page
number, the number would show up, and everything was fine.
Now, whenever I go to insert a page number, either with
a "conversion" macro I've established to make all our
letters the same (I know, I know, I should be using Style,
but I'm a macro kind of girl), the field code shows up
({PAGE}) rather than the number. What did I do to change
the page numbering setup, and how can I change it back?

Well, I figured it out myself--what a dolt I am ! I KNEW
it had to be a combination of keys that I had
inadvertently hit while trying to enter a macro at some
point in my document. Anyway, ALT F9 fixed my problem.
