Page numbers resetting

Dang! You're right. I wonder whether this was true in Word 97 because
somewhere I got the idea that a different page number format required
unlinking the header/footer. I guess I'll need to revise

Hi Suzanne,

Just tried on my other computer that has Office 97 installed and it behaved
the same as 2002...
May have to go back to 95. I have it on this computer, but I have to restart
and activate a different partition. Let me know if you want me to try.

Well, just put it down as one of my misconceptions. In addition to the
inevitable lacunae in our knowledge, there are inevitably things we "know"
that turn out not to be true. But I'd still like to know why I thought that;
I feel sure I must have tried it and failed at some time, and I also feel
reasonably sure it would not have been earlier than Word 97, as I wasn't
doing that sort of thing with Word 95 and earlier. In any case, I'm
obviously just plain wrong, and I'll get John to make that correction in my
article.
