Page numbers

My boss wants me to add slides to a presentation but override the page
numbers so the table of content stays the same. Is there a way to do this?
For example if I add a slide between 40 and 41. Can one be 40a or just not
even counted?

I am not sure that your boss will get his wish. You can omit the first few
slides, but in the middle are always counted. Hidden or not.

The 'Page' numbers are sequential from the assigned first slide number.
Slides can be hidden but these are still numbered and none can be inserted
without changing the numbers of the following slides.

Your boss would be better off manually numbering his pages, if he wants this
type of paging system.

Another alternative is to add a one slide show by hyper-linking from a slide
in his presentation. For instance if he wants a page 40a, than add a link
on 40 to this one slide 'add-in page'.
