PAGE SIZE ISSUES

HOW CAN I SCALE MY DOCUMENT TO FIT A NEW PAPER SIZE. I GO TO PAGE SETUP AND
PUBLICATION LAYOUT. THE ONLY THING THAT CHANGES IS THE PAPER. THE
PUBLICATION WILL NOT SHRINK. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I AM DOING
WRONG. I CALLED MICROSOFT AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS COULD NOT BE DONE. BUT
HE IS WRONG BECAUSE I KNOW SOMEONE WHO MAKES YEAR BOOKS AND HE DOES IT ALL
THE TIME. I WOULD ASK HIM BUT HE HAS MOVED

YIKES!!! YOUR CAPS LOCK GOT STUCK!! MAYBE YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE GUNK OUT
FROM BETWEEN YOUR KEYS?

Microsoft gave you correct information. There are ways to shrink your work
but they aren't Publisher functions. You could try grouping everything, make
sure all of the text boxes are set to autofit text, and then grab a corner
and shrink it but that isn't going to do what you think.

What size is the original document? What size do you want it to be?

Sorry about the caps.......its habit. I have sizes anywhere between 11x17
and 25.5x14. I need to shrink them to 8.5x14. I am an ad designer and I do
menus. I need to make takeout menus of the orignal size. Can I import this
document into a processing program and do it that way? I had been saving the
pages as tiff files and converting them to pdf in acrobat. I can shrink them
way using the print menu.
But I have to email them to my employer and their printer is different than
mine. They are not able to shrink the documents down and I cant save the new
page size from the print menu. Is there a way that I can change a page size
in pdf format

Create a .pdf file at 100%. Let your recipient print it to fit his printer.

Or, if you boss is brain dead, send him the pdf file that was re-sized
to fit his printer.

As Mike has pointed out using pdf format would be better, but here is an
alternative that might help if you need a quick and dirty way to resize a
page. Select and group all items. Use Copy and then Paste Special which
turns it into a single graphic object. Play around with the format to see
which results in the best quality. I've done this frequently to scale down a
larger page size to a smaller one. Be sure to save the original file and
don't replace it with the paste special copy.

Didn't earlier verisons of Publisher have the ability to scale down to fit
smaller page sizes? Why would they take it out in newer "improved" versions?
I wish they would tell purchases about the features they take out as well as
the new (and often unneeded) features they added.

Publisher has never, to my knowledge, had this ability, apart from on
templates, where it will scale down elements from the template (but not
elements manually added later) to the new page size - which can be equally
annoying.
