Paginating question

L

Lanie

How do I begin paginating from, say, page 5 (which would
ba called Page 1) and have no page numbers on the pages
before it?

1.Insert a section break between pages 4 and 5.

2. In Section 2, View | Header and Footer. Switch to the footer if that's
where you want the page number.

3. On the Header and Footer toolbar, press the Same as Previous button to
turn it off. This unlinks the header/footer in Section 2 from the one in
Section 1 so that they can be different.

4. Use the Insert Page Number (#) button to insert a { PAGE } field.

5. Use the Format Page Number button to open the Page Number Format dialog
and select Start at 1.

You can accomplish the same thing without a section break by using an IF
field and a calculated page number, but this won't be satisfactory if you
need at TOC, and it's needlessly complex for a novice.
