Parent Folder Highlighting when Child Folder gets mail

How can an Outlook user be notified that a subfolder receives email if
the parent folder is not opened up? As it is, the parent folders
doesn't get highlighted.

OL2003 doesn't highlight or open folders when subfolders get mail (last I
remember although I might be remembering wrong). I seem to remember OL2000
or 2002 doing it but it's a vague memory now.
