password protect outgoing mail

I send out word + excel documents to tradesman specifying job details and
costs. I've found at that they have been editing there own workloads!
Is there any way that I can default a password to protect each outgoing
attachment? Without individually passwording each document upon saving.

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

That's OK; I just marked it so that nobody else would respond to it. It
wasn't meant in a nasty way but I forgot to add a wink so here goes ;-)
