Paste wont wrap text

I was surprised that when I pasted in some text it would not stay in the
same cell, but bled right through to the rows on the right, even though wrap
text is checked.

Thanks

Hi,

I copied some text to the MacOS clipboard from Word, then switched to Excel
2004 and used Edit > Paste to paste the text into a cell that was formatted
to wrap text.

After pasting a widget appears. If I choose to keep the source formatting
the text does not wrap. If I choose to use keep the formatting of the
workbook the text wraps. This is as I would expect it to be.

Are you seeing something different?

Thanks Jim:
I just did that test, and that does not happen with me. The text just bleeds
right through to columns b,c,d etc, no widget comes up, don't know what
widget is.

AH, JE, just happened again today. Does it have anything to do with fact I'm
pasting text from Word?

Side note: why when search my name, Kevs, this thread does not come up?
Nothing paste March 7.

It should happen whenever the clipboard contains more than one type of
information that can be pasted - e.g., plain text and formatted text, as
Word does.

In this thread, at least, you've been posting with the name Ken Weingart.
