Pasting Text from Web pages

I often copy text from articles on the Web and use Paste Special to put it
into Word documents.
I've noticed that when these selections go into the Office Clipboard, they
are represented by icons indicating pictures (bitmaps, etc.) and thus can't
be repasted. If I do, all I get is the icon in my document. I am not given
an option to use the Paste Special command.
Is there a workaround for this, or must I assume that such copied material
can only be pasted into Word once?
Thanks.

I often use this method, but find the easiest way is to highlight, then copy and paste the text, and copy and paste the any pictures on a separate sheet, then put them together later

Hope this helps!

Actually, it is not the pictures that I want, only the text. I select and
copy only the text. Then I use Paste Special: Unformatted Text.
What then goes into the Office Clipboard is only an icon, and if I go back
to it after copying something else, it is only that icon that gets pasted.
