pdf files

I can not download Adobe pdf files with XP Prof. that is on my laptop. When
I am an a web page that has a link to an Adobe pdf i.e. a bank statement or
account statement; my oper. system will not down load it or open it so I can
see it in Adobe Reader. It doesn't matter which ver of Adobe Reader I use,
it is the same problem. MS XP says it can't downoad the file because it
doesn't have the whatever to do it. At other times a new window will open
in Adobe but only an icon in the upper LH corner shows and nothing else.

Is there something missing in XP for this? I don't have this problem on
other laptops.

Randy: Adobe is not a Microsoft product and its operation or disoperation or
dysoperation isn't a function of Microsoft Office or even Windows. However,
it could be that your file assocation for PDFs got messed up. See if you can
re-associate PDF files to Adobe Acrobat Reader.

What's missing is the "whatever". As in "MS XP says it can't downoad the
file because it doesn't have the whatever to do it." The part of that
statement holds the key to your solution.

Since it isn't an Office question, I would recommend posting it in the Adobe
Reader newsgroup but make sure you fill in the "whatever" part. Good luck
