"personal folders file was not closed properly"

I am using Win XP, Office XP and Outlook 2003. On
occasion when I open Outlook I get the following
error: "personal folders file was not closed properly.
please wait...checking for problems". Is there a certain
way Outlook 2003 should not be closed?
