Photos don't appear after insertion into Publisher document

I can see the selection handles but the photo itself is not visible. It does
not show up in print preview mode either.

View, pictures, detailed display. If this doesn't do it, try it in safe mode, if it
works then it is possible your video driver needs upgrading.
