Physical % Complete Summary Rollup

(this may be a duplicate)

You need costed resources, and a baseline. You can always assign a
"Resource1" at $1/hr. Tasks must have an assigned Earned Value method of
Physical%Complete. You can do this be selecting all tasks, clicking the Task
Information icon, pull the advanced tab and change the EV method to
"Physical%Complete"

To assure all future entered tasks have Physical%Complete as their EV
method, you can change the default: Tools/Options.../Calculations (tab) and
click Earned Value... then select Physical%Complete

Consider changing your Gannt bars to reflect Physical%Complete

Thanks Jim. I set my baseline and assigned my costed resources and it
worked. I also need to be able to group my tasks and have the
Physical%Complete summarized as well. Do I need to do something else? Right
now that field is not summarized after I choose my grouping.

Make sure every task in the grouping has the same EV Method. Consider making
every task in the project Physcial%Complete so you can group as desired.

Every task is set to Physical%Complete as is the default option but still the
summary isn't carrying over when I group tasks. Any suggestions?

It works fine on my test file. Make sure the individual tasks are all
Physical%Complete. My assumption is that your "group by" was created from
the Project/Group By..../Customize Group... As long as that is working
correctly for the other items, the only remaining area for error is the EV
type.

If you wish to donate the file for a quick peek, jeaksel (at) yahoo (dot)
com and tell me what you are trying to group.

Hi Jim,

Excuse me piggy backing this query. I am working towards a solution for
showing %complete on a group by outline view. From what you have written I
need to set EV Method = Physical % Complete.

I have done this by selecting all tasks and setting Physical % Complete.
However it does not seem to have reset EV Method on Summary tasks which
remains stubbornly at % Complete.

Any tips on how to achieve the desired setting.

Thanks

Martin

Hello Martin,

Did you also change the Default task earned value method in Tools >
Options, Calculation tab, Earned Value button?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
