pictures automatically cropped

Hi,

I am trying to add text to photos and save as JPEG using Publisher 2003 Pro.
The problem I am having is the pictures are being cropped without my doing
anything. This happens even when I open a picture then select "print
preview" before any editing or saving of the picture.

I have looked and cannot find a way to display the picture in its entirety.

Thanks for any help!!!

I don't have Pub 2003 installed right now but
if you right click the picture...do you have an
option to "Save As Picture"? If you do...this
may solve your problem.

If you do not have the "Save As Picture"
option...continue reading.....

I suspect the images are high resolution
and may be importing larger than the
default canvas in Publisher. When you
save...the image is cropped to the size
of the canvas and that's when your problem
develops.

Unlike an image editing program that saves
only the image...Publisher saves the canvas
and every thing that is on it. If the edges are
overlapped you lose that part and if the
canvas is not covered you will see the white
canvas showing in the area that is not
covered by the picture. (this BTW...is why
some users say there are lines around their
images...the canvas was not fully covered
and they did not "Save As Picture")

By dragging the corner handles...be sure
the picture "covers" the entire Publisher
Canvas...but the portion of the image you
wish to save has to "fit within the perimeter"
of the Publisher canvas.

I hope this makes sense...it's tricky to explain.

Hi John,

You explained that perfectly. In the mean time I have found another program
that accomplised what I needed. Your info will be helpful in the future and
I appreciate your help.

I'm happy that it was understandable. Some things
are much easier to do than they are to explain.

Thanks for the feedback
