Pivot table drilldown

S

Spencer Hutton

i have a data table in a sheet with thousands of records. there are about 15
different fields. i created a pivot table to summarize about 5 of the
fields. when i double click the first field to "expand" it and show detail,
i notice that all of the sub fields have all of their detial shown. is there
a way to hide detail for every field in the entire table so that i don't have
to drill down to the smallest detail for every category, and hide detail for
each item. TIA.

You can do all the items in each field at the same time:

Check that 'Enable Selection' is turned on (on the PivotTable toolbar,
choose PivotTable>Select -- 'Enable Selection' should be highlighted)

In the column area, point to the top of a field button
When the pointer changes to a black arrow, click to select the field
On the PivotTable toolbar, click the 'Hide Detail' button

Repeat these steps for the remaining fields.
