Planned Work vs. Actual Work

We are conducting a lessons learned for a project that has just completed. We
were only 8 days off our baseline estimate, so we did pretty good. The
question from management now is, "Well, this was an easy project, why did it
take so long?" Those of us on the battle field know it is because of the
number of projects running through the finite resource pool. I want to
analyze the data to compare scheduled vs actual work so we can tell the
story. Is there one report that will show variance data at the task level per
resource? Graphically if possible. Thanks for any input.

Robert,
You mention your "baseline estimate" but did you actually set a
baseline? If you did then you might want to use the Task Usage view and
display the Work Variance field as a column, (you may or may not even
want to look at the timescaled data on the right). It will give you work
variance at the task level per resource assignment.

Hope this helps.
