I have had the most success with playing video inside of
PowerPoint, by applying a slide layout which says "Click
Icon to add content", then selecting the small icon of a
video camera. This opens the clip organizer, from which
you choose your clip. You may have to import the clip
into the organizer before you can select it.
Unfortunately, the organizer does not recognize all video
file formats. As long as you can import your clip into
the organizer, you should be able to insert it into the
slide via the handycam icon.
If your clip is non standard, such as an mpeg with video
only and no audio, you may find the software "XMuxer"
from www.elecard.com to be helpful. It massages the file
format (multiplexing, demultiplexing ...?)and will output
a .mpg file which PowerPoint seems more ready to accept.
Good luck
no signs of playing. I open the movie and play it no
problem using media player - so at least I know the mpeg
is playable on my PC.
