Pooling resources

How can I use an existing project file with schedule and resource table
to convert into a pool resource file with only resource table and
without schedule? Do I need to remove all the tasks or just remove the
start and finish dates of the task?

Thanks

Hi,

You can't "remove" start and finish dates of tasks, they will always have
one of each.
If you don't need them any more, you can just delete the tasks.

Hi Sydney,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I would just create a new file for your pool and then in the existing
project Tools/Resource Sharing/Share Resources and select the pool file .
This will then populate the pool file with all your resources for you.

Thanks.)

It's easy enough to delete all the tasks - click on the blank button in the
upper left-hand corner of the Gantt chart entry table where the column of
row bumbers and the row of filed title meet and then hit the "delete" key.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies!

I have deleted all tasks in the pool resource file and change all other
project files pointing to this pool resource file ( via Tool - Resource
sharing - Share resource - Use resource). It seems all other projects
sharing only 1 resource table now.

Thanks again for all your helpful advices :)
