pop3 login prompt surpression

I use Outlook2002 with a POP3 mail server and I get a prompt screen that
wants me to logon to the mail server. This does not happen all the time,
just infrequently. Is there a setting that can be used to surpress the
logon prompt so that it will not be displayed? ... but will just try to
logon the next time it reaches it's time out period for accessing the
external mail server.

The loginbox pops up because the mailserver doesn't respond (down for
maintenance or network problems). Basically your credentials are rejected
and therefor you are prompted again. You can't change this behaviour.
