Hi. My outlook 2002 downloads and sends emails fine when I am connected to my
adsl modem at the office but when I connect out of the office to the internet
via adsl modem or wireless a pop up dialog box comes up asking for server
name user name and password. The pop3 email account settings are set to use
username and password same as incoming for authentication. Any help would be
greatly appretiated.

Can you PING the POP server when you're not in the office?

pnm_uk,
Are you having problems with just sending messages, or also with receiving
messages with alternative ISP services?
1. If it is just a sending problem, then your ISP does not allow you to use
their outgoing servers while connected to another ISP service. This is
usually referred as "Port-25 blocking". To prevent Spammers using a
company's outgoing mail server. You should be able to receive mail from the
service though.
2. You may want to check with your ADSL service, see if they have alternate
port settings for their email acct, that you can use, when you are connected
to another ISP. Such as a traveling businessperson's/vacation service. There
may be additional charges for this service from your ISP. Usually they will
also work while you are connected to your ISP, so there would no need to
change them, depending on your connection.
