populating a textbox or combobox

I am working on a database for non-comforming parts. There are a list of
over 100 part defect codes (eg 10H part triimed incorrectly) that I have
stored in a table and a form.

What I would like to do is click on a command button and select a code from
the form or table. This code will then be automatically entered in the
combobox or text box for the current record in the main form.

You don't need to complicate your life so.

Simply use a combo box. Set its row source type to Table/Query and then set
its row source to whatever table has the code you wish to reference and
store. Then set its control source to the field in which you wish to store
the selection made by the user.
