Possible Virus

Beginning last night, every time I try to type anything on my laptop (this is
my PC), I get "4RY". When I try to backspace or press enter I get "4RY." Is
there something wrong with my keyboard or do I have a virus? If it is a
virus, do I have to format the hard drive? Again, this is not the computer
with the problem. Thanks.

I occurs in all software. Since I posted this question, I ran some tests
with Norton Internet Security and I think it's resolved. Thanks.
