Is there a differenve in programing from the student edition and the stand
alone program?

No, not really. The student version has the warnings about not being for
commercial use and such.

Thats what I was hoping to here but I have viewed some pp projects that have
different graphics + the powerpoint program costs $225 compared to the bundle
of the sutdent home edition for $150+ Sale for $99 after rebate

From what I understand, the program itself is the same in both versions.
It might be that each version comes with a different bundle of graphics
built in. However, most graphics are now online so you have access to a
wide range of graphics from Microsoft's online clip art collection.
