PowerPoint 2000 Inserting slides from file

I am using Power Point 2000 at work and combining a group of slide shows by
inserting slides from file. Is there a way to do this so that the background
of the inserted slides doesn't change and take on the formatting and
background from the original slide show? I am trying to put several slide
shows together so that they can be looped (these are the works of my
students) and then will show them at a display table for a conference.

Thanks! any help would be great!!

Save each of your students' PPTs as PPSs (PowerPoint
Show). Then use Slide Show > Actions Buttons to link to
each of the students' PPSs. Include a link in each of the
students' shows to return to the master presentation.

YES! I knew there was a way to accomplish what I wanted, but I just couldn't
remember how to do it in version 2000. I teach Technology Literacy and work
in all versions of all Microsoft products so I get confused at times as to
which version does what! You guys are the best! Thank you for responding so
quickly! :)

Sandy:
Okay...so I have saved the ppt's to pps and created the action button so
that on mouse over the next show starts. Is there any way possible to set it
to automatically start the next pps?
